Pike Dudhkunda TrekPike Peak Solu TrekkingThe Southern part of Solukhumbu offers many options to the trekker. Pike Peak and Pike, Dudhkhunda Treks are newly opened in this region of Nepal. We walk through many small villages, the people rely mostly on farming for their livelihoods. We may spot evidence of wild animals such as leopards, jackals, mongoose, deer, bear and langur monkeys. Once reaching Pike Peak the views are wonderful of a great number of snow capped peaks, including Everest, Makalu and Kanchenjunga Himal. For those wanting a feel of the Khumbu region then the ascent of Pike Peak in the less-visited Solu region will be a cherished experience. Lying just to the south of the original Everest Trail from Bhandar we pass through authentic Sherpa villages. From the Linkhu Khola we climb steadily through terraced fields, on the trail we find rhododendron and magnolia forest. We now leave the villages behind us and ascend further through hemlock firs to the cheese factory at Ngaur. The following day we climb ascend the summit of Pike Peak giving spectacular views of Gaurishankar, Thamsherkhu, Number Himal, Makalu and Everest.
